ESOP-2 at the Danish Center for Remote Sensing
European Subpolar Ocean Project phase 2 under MAST-III
ESOP-2 is an EEC project under the MAST III programme, contract
MAS3-CT95-0015
Overall project description
The goal of ESOP-2 is to understand the thermohaline
circulation in the Greenland Sea, its sensitivity, and impact on global ocean
circulation, building on a unique combination of novel experimental techniques,
modelling and experience gained under ESOP-1
Role and contribution of DTU (DCRS)
The Danish Center for Remote Sensing contributes with large scale ice mapping
in the Greenland Sea based on passive microwave information, and with detailed
studies of the ice formation and decay in the Odden area based on Active
and Passive microwave observations.
